Stag 1911 grips

I have always had a love of art, and what better way to merge my love of art and firearms together then to hunt down and find only the best hand carved stag grips availible. Our Elk Stag grips are sourced from the Rocky Mountains. They are hand carved and of the highest quality you can find. A bull male elk's antlers may reach 4 feet above its head, so that the animal towers 9 feet tall. As their name suggests, bighorn sheep have true horns that they retain throughout their life.

Males, called rams, have large horns that curl around their faces by eight years of age. These horns can weigh up to 30 pounds. Females, called ewes, have smaller horns that curve slightly to a sharp point within the first four years of life. Because Rams keep their horns for a life time, Rams horn is harder to come by, therefore more unique and more expensive. Use this popup to embed a mailing list sign up form. A classic outfit that is a joy to shoot. I bought stag handles for my husband's Smith and Wesson N frame round butt. I wanted to surprise him and put it on before he came home. The customer service rep walked me through the entire process, and even hung on the line while I went out in the shop and got my allen wrenchs.

Awesome customer service, and my husband loves the grips. Purchased the grips for a a1. They look and feel great. The diamonds are a little big but give the weapon a nice look. The rosewood makes them look like aged walnut. One of the lower diamonds is a little off center and canted. Otherwise nice work. These took a little time, but they are terrific and fit like a glove. The Python deserved grips like these! Finger grooves help to control recoil.

Grip angle gives a natural aiming point for the sights. Might need a larger cut-out if you intend to use speedloaders. These grips are perfect for my lcr ! Beautiful and functional! Fantastic product, I highly recommend them! Bought these a while ago for my wife. She said the grip is good, quality is good, looks great. Thank you Eagle Grips for making such a great product, your grips really make these guns easier to shoot accurately and with confidence.

These grips are a nice upgrade to my Old Model Vaquero. They fit very well and are nice and clean around the grip frame. The checkering is crisp and improves the handling when using either one or two hands. Very good quality and worth the purchase price.Check out. Hans Fischer. Hi ,I like the sheriff also, you can find some stag grips for sale on the members market below. I would love to see a pic of your uncles ww2 remington. Last edited by idtaken; at AM. Reason: spelling.

Great quality! A bit thicker than regular grips, but you can ask to customize to your liking. Remove Advertisements. There are two sources of stag, so far as I know; India stag and elk stag, which is American and much cheaper. The Grashorns are a little pricier, but are cut for a bobtail, which Lobo doesn't offer he outsources his grips from somewhere? If you don't see what you like on Lobo, call Patrick Grashorn, he is super nice to deal with and satisfaction guaranteed.

Last edited by judgedelta; at AM. Reason: addendum. I have 6 sets of starting pre-Longmire grips from him. Great grips, great prices, FAST delivery, unparalleled customer service. Attached Thumbnails. Most like stag for their unique grain patterns - and those cost the most. Grips with no, light, little or unmatched patterning are not worth a large premium.

Antlers have a soft porous interior called pith, and if it predominates on the stocks they are also not as desirable. The best in my opinion are currently made by Charles Spresser who essentially markets through eBay under the name Gripmaker23 and his eBay store is called Spresser Knife Works. On each of his listings is the thicknesses of the grip panels - and one should pay attention as some are much thicker than standard.

Fine patterning can also be found among Elk stag grips, and in my opinion, the best elk stag are now offered by Pat Grashorn, a terrific person to deal with - as previously indicated in a post above. Some current and inexpensive elk grips are quite pale with little patterning should bring a very low premium.

Here is a pair I have: Good luck in your search - they make for wonderful grips. Patrick Grashorn will also cut for bobtail and ambi. Just let him know.

Last edited by Burgs; at PM. FYI, the dark colored groovy outside part of the grip is called "bark". Grashorn emailed me a picture of 6 pair of grips that he had already made up. The bark ranged from none, looking almost like ivory, to full coverage very dark. The left and right sides aren't going to be exactly alike, since this is natural material, but the good makers try to match as much as possible. Originally Posted by judgedelta.

I personally like to see more white and a bit less bark, so they stand out more on the gun.

Remove Advertisements. Both quite beautiful. Looks like a choice between red deer and sambar. Keep both and change as per your mood - both are outstanding. BTW, who's the makers? I like the first ones more. Btw, here's a pic of the actual gun from Longmire. I've never seen the show, but the gun was in display at the Cody Firearms Museum when we visited this summer.

My contribution. Of the two guns pictured by OP, the first has could use more bark and the second could use less. All of course, is personal preference. That Cody museum gun does not look like Longmire's gun to me, too little bark. Maybe it was a stunt double. I like the first set better also.

I wanted to invoke a little "Longmire-ish" feel to my haha. I have old stag on this Commercial
